PERSPECTIVES
ON THE CONSTRUCTION OF A RURAL BUSINESS SYSTEM
The
objective of this forum is to disseminate experiences of joint productive chains
and associative marketing.
E-COMMERCE
AND ICTs FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM PRODUCERS.
The
objective of this forum is to respond to the urgent necessity of making use of
information and communication technology as a tool for the marketing and
development of producer communities in our country.
It
is open to all individuals, as well as public, private, governmental and
non-governmental institutions, involved in the development of community centres
of information (infocentres).
Infocentres
are places where the community can access ICTs, based on a design of electronic
communication oriented towards small producers, as well as find information
about the dynamics and tendencies of domestic and international markets, with
the possibility of integrating proposals using E-Commerce.

Thanks to promotion of the Electronic Commerce
Network in fairs, workshops, and conferences, other producers have become
interested in joining the
network.
The
Network was also promoted in Europe
from June 13 - July 7
when delegates from Camari and the producers groups visited many fair trade
organizations in Spain, Belgium, France, Italy and Germany. This was an
opportunity to promote the products, discuss the electronic commerce system and
analyze Ecuadorian products.
Many organizations expressed interest in making
future orders.
During July 5-6 the second gathering of the wider
network for electronic commerce and
fair trade was held in Quito. Producers, consumers, sales people,
development organizations and
representatives from local government participated in discussions
concerning the creation of the network, and socioeconomic alternatives for lower income groups. One hundred and sixty
delegates participated in this gathering, including the producer groups from the
electronic commerce network
project.
